If you've been treating Anthropic's long-term compute supply as something to reassess each quarter, two deals in eight days gives that question a longer answer. Riot Platforms is a former Bitcoin miner that has pivoted to AI data center services. On August 11, Riot disclosed a $9.1B computing agreement. Riot did not name the counterparty; Bloomberg identified it as Anthropic.

The term runs through June 2048. The agreement covers 191 megawatts at Riot's Rockdale, Texas campus. The agreement includes two five-year extension options. If both are exercised, the total value could reach $16.1B. Riot shares rose 25% to $24.40 on the announcement.

Anthropic separately closed a reported $10B deal with Volta Infra Holdings. The Riot announcement lands eight days after that. If you're evaluating Anthropic's long-term compute position, the combined picture is two large infrastructure contracts, one confirmed through June 2048. That's a view of Anthropic's infrastructure stability that didn't exist for builders before this month.
