OpenAI extends Codex to iOS and Android as a remote control surface for the Mac environment

TechCrunch 9to5Mac MacRumors

Codex landed inside the ChatGPT mobile app on iOS and Android on May 14, rolled out as a preview across all plans, including the free tier. The phone is a control surface for an existing Mac session. Files, credentials, plugins, and permissions stay on the Mac. From the mobile app, developers review outputs, approve commands, switch models, and start new tasks. Setup connects the phone to an existing Codex for Mac session via QR code. OpenAI cited more than four million weekly Codex users in the announcement. OpenAI lists Windows host support as coming soon.

xAI releases Grok Build, a terminal-based coding agent CLI running a 16-agent parallel architecture

Engadget CIO Dive DevOps.com

Grok Build launched on May 14 as a terminal-based coding agent built on xAI's Grok 4.3 beta model. The architecture runs 16 agents under what xAI calls a Heavy configuration, with a 2 million token context window. Up to eight agents can run concurrently, splitting across parallel planning, documentation search, and code editing. The tool runs plan-mode-first: multi-step plans require developer approval before execution begins. Out of the box, Grok Build supports AGENTS.md, MCP servers, plugins, hooks, and skills. Access is gated to the Grok SuperHeavy subscription tier at $299 per month, with an introductory rate of $99 per month for the first six months.
